1953 Silver Streak Clipper Wow! What a Beauty!!
From the owner: "Late in 2005, I was working in Hickory County as a health inspector. I noticed the trailer in a field on the west side of Pomme de Terre Lake. I found the owner of the land through the local assessor's office. I purchased the trailer for $250, had to remove a tree to get it home. The official date of purchase was 1/11/2005. Stored the trailer in the barn.
I designed the new frame in mid-2013. (I am a Professional Engineer).
The holding tanks and steel for the frame were purchased between mid-2013 and mid-2014. The disassembly followed. My neighbor, Bill Shaffer, a welder, completed the frame afterwards.
By mid-2015, the body was reunited with the new flatbed frame and new aluminum panels were being installed.
By late 2018, moldings and finish items were installed, including new appliances.
I polished the exterior in early 2020, and our first camping trip was in July, 2020.
Although I retired from my local health dept. job in 2005, I worked part-time for another nearby health department since 2008. (I have retired again). The barn that houses the trailer is not heated. I also built my 1929 Model A street rod in these time frames. These are my excuses for taking so long.
As of today, we have used the trailer for 70 nights and have clocked over 10,000 miles on it.
We are home now. We came home early because of the weather. Anytime you are in Missouri, stop by. We really appreciate your efforts.
Larry and Christine Rice
This Trailer was built the same year I was born, so it's pretty old!! Haha!! It looks very good and has some history! Thanks for checking this Trailer out!

Переглядів 1452 роки тому
Our first time to visit the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM. Had reservations for 2020 Fiesta but it was (canceled) "postponed" due to Covid. Our reservation was moved to this year. We are in the North Lot, dry camping for 10 days. This is some of the events of the first day! Enjoy and thanks for watching.

We venture to the Manatee Springs area. My wife, Nancy is home at Reno, NV for the Christmas celebrations. I go to Manatee Springs State Park and see Manatee in the 'wild' for the first time. My action camera, which can shoot underwater, seemed to do a decent job. Hope you enjoy!

We visit 2 state parks in Florida. Both very different from each other. Big Lagoon was half closed due to storm damage not repaired. We had to go to a different area for the beach. We had a Tornado threat at the second Park! Oh my! Saw alligator, Lions, tigers and bears... oh my!

I really enjoyed this State Park in Louisiana. It's south of New Orleans on an island. The RV area has lawns and paved driveway. Few trees in the RV area but shrubs & small trees between RV area and beech. Water & Elec., no sewer at sites but does have a dump station. I will return this December (2021) I believe.

Sir, you have way too many features on that 16-foot boat. Auto navigation, fold-down galley, refrigerator, full-length v-berth and even a reclining armchair? I've alerted the authorities and I promise you won't get away with it!

An old video, but this is my review on both 17 and 15: 1) Skip the 15. It's just too damned small in the cabin. It should have been made with an open skiff option. Some early 17's were open flush deck racing models. Very rare. 2) Cost: Newer M's are hugely over-priced, IMO, but, they're the best sub-18 sailboat out there at any price. If you want one, get an old one for $3,000-$5,000 (1970's). Move fast. He who hesitates is last. 3) I've owned two 17's, a 1974 and a 1975 (first two years production). Both were not inexpensive - even in rough condition. These boats have a cult following like few others, and for good reasons. Hand made like bank vaults. 4) Cost of upkeep is low, as they are deliberately outfitted as Basic. Excellent boat choice for beginners, or experts who will upgrade or add details. 5) Great beginner boat because they are so forgiving of mistakes, and are extremely seaworthy. I tried to dip the rails many times in higher winds, but the design is so good that the boat just turned upwind and stopped dead, as a truly great sailboat should. Such a design allows for this because under harsh conditions, IF you are thrown from the boat, it will instantly turn into the wind and stop, allowing you to swim to the boat. No other small boat I have ever sailed does this so quickly, leaving you to self rescue at a shorter distance. 5) There are may choices in the sub18 range. None are better boats - no matter what model year. Lyle Hess designed a masterpiece in the M-17. He was the god of cruising designs and put very similar charateristics into the little m's. High freeboard, dry running, superb sea keeping, and safety. The best open ocean designs do not heel farther than 12-15 degress. The tiny M's are no different. Very stable and give the feeling of hunkering down into the line, rather than being dominated by wind. You never feel like you're fighting it. A single reef was all I ever had to use in 25-30knots of wind. I will admit that the ride was not fun in a 1700lb boat, but it was safe. And Jerry Montgomery made them fast by narrowing te entry a tad and rounding the departure lines a bit. 6) IMO, the only thing that limits them is the lack of space for provisions for a trans oceanic passage - although it has been done. I would not attempt that in a Precision 18 or a Cape Dory Typhoon, or a Siren, or any other boat in the range of the M-17.

Masterful prioritizing, redesign and fabrication. Almost all small cabin boats have designs that make two or more crew eager to go home. How many designers plan to make the soloist genuinely comfortable? This gentleman gets it.

I would have a system like this if I had a 26 foot boat. One hand is enough for my wwp15. I think I would be fine up to a 19 foot boat. As an RN I understand that everyone has reasons for doing things in certain ways to overcome limitations. All it takes is a bad back or worn out rotator cuff to make mast raising an impossible chore without a system like this.
